Valeria Dworschak (95) died peacefully in her Arcadia home on June 11, 2014. She was born to Paul and Julia (Pyka) Rombalski on July 5, 1918, in the Township of Burnside in Trempealeau County. She married La Vern Dworschak on June 18, 1941. They farmed in Traverse Valley for several years before moving to Arcadia in 1947.
Valeria was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and served as co-chair of Group 7 of St. Ann's Society. After OLPH closed, Valeria became an active member of Holy Family Parish. She belonged to the St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary and was a long-term member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. After working nine years at the Arcadia Industries, she earned her GED and then completed studies at Winona Technical Institute to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. After her twenty-year nursing career, she retired in October of 1988 to enjoy her card club friends, her flower gardens, and traveling. La Vern and Valeria celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary touring Europe.
Valeria is survived by daughters Betty Jane (Roland) Roskos of La Crosse and Janice Ann; grandchildren Michael (Julia) Roskos of La Crosse and Nancy (Sumner) McAllister of Burnsville MN; great grand children Emma and Conner McAllister and Charlie and Ellie Roskos; one sister Therese (James) Gamroth of Onalaska; her sister-in-law Mary Margaret Risberg; and by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Valeria was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Caroline (Leonard) Hesch, Dixie (George) Repka and Rose Marie (Jack) Gleason; and brothers Philip, Roman and Herman (Sandra) Rombalski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday, June 13, 2014, at 2:30 PM, Father Sebastian Kolodziejczyk, presiding. Wake will be held at Wozney-Killian Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, June 12, with rosary and prayer service at 7:30. Visitation will be at the church from 1:30 to the time of funeral on Friday.
Pallbearers are Godsons: Don Reck and Dennis Hesch, nephews: Mark and Todd Risberg, and neighbors: Bruce Kostner and John Leavitt.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Catholic Order of Foresters, (former) St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, and the Parish Council of Catholic Women.
