Rosalie Weltzien 77, of Arcadia died at her home, bravely with her family by her side, on Thursday, August 6, 2015. Rosalie was born on April 19, 1938, in Arcadia to John and Monica (Suchla) Motszko.
Rosalie graduated from Arcadia High School in 1956. On August 17, 1957, she married Charles A. Weltzien, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Charles died on April 6, 1994.
She had worked at the Saralee's Drive-In and Waldera's Corner Store, A-G Broiler Plant, Dairyland Labs, and EMD (Benchmark Electronics). Rosalie was a member of Holy Family Parish, where she was very active in varies church activities. The last several years she was a part of the Holy Family Bread Bakers. She made many beautiful wedding cakes-most notably angel food. No one could make one as high as Mom could! She also had a special touch in making mocha cake that would rise high and fluffily as well!
Rosalie was an avid Brewer Fan, so plans evolved around game time. She loved to travel. She enjoyed traveling to California to visit cousins Jerome and Laverne (Jody) Klopotek; who were a very special part of her life. Many of those trips meant visiting antique shops and collecting "Wexford" glassware. Mom also had a love for the Rosary, evidenced by the fact that she could often be seen in the sun room (dubbed "the Chapel" by Jerome) praying the rosary several times throughout the day and by her extensive collection of rosaries. When she couldn't get out and travel anymore, she found pleasure in tearing and sewing old textiles into "carpet rags" to be made into rugs.
Rosalie is survived by her loving children: Dean (Kathy Kostner) Weltzien of Arcadia, Dennis "Blu" Weltzien of Arcadia, Darin (Adrienne Giemza) Weltzien of Winona, Douglas "Beaver" Weltzien of Arcadia, and Diane (Ben) Filla of Fountain City; 9 grandchildren: Mindy (Dustin) Lano, Joe, Sarah, Tim, Andy, Carolyn Filla, Monica, Jon, Ethan Weltzien; 4 great grandchildren: Braelyn, Lucian, Mavis Lano, Charlie Filla; 2 sisters: Marian Waldera, Joan (Vilas) Hanson; 1 brother: Dennis "Hook" Motszko; sister-in-law: Anita Motszko. She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles; brother: George; brother-in-law: Severin Waldera; sister-in-law: Karen (Podewils) Motszko and her best friend: Phyllis Ruff. We would like to thank these special people for their devoted friendship and loving care: Darlene Filla (often referred to as her guardian angel), Jane Weisenberger, and Uncle Hook, cousins: Diane Kutt and Jerome Klopotek.
