Ronald M. Soppa, 62, of Arcadia died on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at his home due to complications from ALS. He was born on November 12, 1951, in Arcadia to Eugene and Alice (Pronschinske) Soppa. Ron spent time with his cousins, Fred and Theresa Soppa, and was considered an adopted son. Ron's love of family and passion for enjoying the fullness of life will be greatly missed.
Ron married Connie Weber at Christ Lutheran Church on October 16, 1987. Ron had farmed, was self employed in the concrete business, worked for A-G Cooperative, and owned and operated the Draft Horse Inn with his wife Connie. He was very active with his draft horses where he holds the state record of 3900 lbs on a machine. He was a member of the WI Horse Pulling Association, where he had served as president, and secretary/treasurer. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012. He was also a member of the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce.
Ron is survived by his wife, Connie Soppa of Arcadia. He is also survived by 5 step children: "Lindy" Malinda (Jose) Vazquez of Arcadia, Shelley "Michelle" Olson of Rochester, Carmen (Dan) Risen of Mondovi, Adam (Beth) Mock of Owasso, OK, Bob (friend Clair) Mock of West Salem, 1 sister, Shirley Rebhahn of Arcadia, 3 brothers: Lloyd (Sharon) Soppa of Hixton, Linus (Mary Lou) Soppa of St. Charles, Larry Soppa of Arcadia, 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, special adopted sister, Carol (Jeff) Bawek, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Al Rebhahn, nephew, Todd Rebhahn, step son, Scott Mock, and infant triplet siblings: Theresa, Mary and George. All who walked into Ron's life were touched by his character and spirit as he left an impression on all he met.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church (821 Lincoln Street, Arcadia) with Rev. Peter Jonas and Rev. Kary Jonas officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorial to "Family Wishes".
