Rodney E. Ristow, 92 of Arcadia and Alma, died on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Benedictine Manor-Arcadia Nursing Home. Rodney was born on September 18, 1920, on a farm near Cream, Buffalo County, Wisconsin to Herman and Enid (Hammer) Ristow.
Rodney was a carpenter/contractor and a gifted musician. He had played his concertina in his first band at age 17 and continued his music career for 62 years, most of them leading the Swiss Girls Band. He married Irene Thompson on October 26, 1941; they later divorced. He married Karen Servais on June 3, 1971; they later divorced. He was a member of the Winona Musicians Union and St. John's Lutheran Church in Alma.
Rodney is survived by 4 sons; William (Ruth) Ristow of Elgin,IL, Donald (Melinda) Ristow of St. George, UT, Kevin (Elizabeth) Ristow of Burnsville, MN, Robert Ristow of Fountain City, 2 daughters; Kathleen (J. Glenn) Schneider of Naperville, IL, Kim (Ron) Pronschinske of Waumandee, 1 sister; Donna Kalmes of Alma, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and special friend, Eleanor Slaby of Arcadia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Irene, and his brother-in-law, Walt Kalmes.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 11:00 AM at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home in Arcadia with Rev. Peter Jonas officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Alma Cemetery in Alma, Wisconsin. In lien of flowers memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
