Robert "Red" L. Wall, 96, of Ettrick, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. Robert was born on November 26, 1928 to James and Myrtle (Beirne) Wall at home in Ettrick, WI.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving as a paratrooper and translating Morse code, before receiving his honorable discharge. On September 29, 1956, he married the love of his life, Leona Robinson, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and memories.
Robert had a fulfilling career as an electrician; he worked for H&R Electric and NEI until his retirement. His electrical experience came in handy and is evident in many family members' homes.
Robert was passionate about baseball, enjoying both playing and watching the sport he cherished. He was a true baseball legend. Additionally, he enjoyed golfing, biking, snowshoeing, playing cards and was often seen on his daily walks.
In addition to his many interests, Robert served his community with pride. He was a member of the Ettrick American Legion Post 354 for 69 years, where he held the position of Sergeant at Arms. He also volunteered as a firefighter and served as treasurer for the Village of Ettrick. A man of strong faith, he was a life-long member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church.
Robert is survived by his wife of 68 years, Leona; sons, Dave (Deb) and Chip (Heidi); daughter, Deb (Dave) Stith; grandchildren, Angie, Erica, Vanessa, Mirachelle, Alicia (Tim), Meghan (Chad), Hillary, Mike (Kellie), Melissa, Malorie, and Keagan; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane (Robert) Berndt and Mary (James J.) Sobotta; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Wall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dan Wall; brothers, Walter and Francis; sisters, Betty and Margaret (Peg) Witt; sister-in-law, Kate Wall; and in-laws, Bernard and Irene Robinson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, December 16, 2024 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Ettrick with Reverend Kyle Laylan officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass at church. Red will be laid to rest in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Military Honors will be rendered by the Ettrick American Legion Post 354.
