Richard J. Pierzyna, 78, of Arcadia died on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Bethany Riverside Nursing Home in La Crosse. Rich was born on May 21, 1936, in Arcadia to John and Amelia (Kupietz) Pierzyna.
Rich worked for A-G Co-op Creamery where he was a lab tester for 40 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, and the Holy Name Society. He was an avid bowler, receiving the All Navy Bowling Tournament Award. He enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and College sports, but most of all, he enjoyed attending all the Arcadia High School Sporting events. He loved to travel, especially going to Broadway Plays in New York City several times a year. Throughout his life, he was a devoted son, brother and uncle, always taking care of his family.
Rich is survived by his sister, Marian Klonecki of La Crosse and his brother, Ronald Pierzyna of La Crosse, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 bothers: Jerome "Chief", and Leonard Pierzyna; brother-in-law, Raymond Klonecki; and sister-in-law, Ruth Pierzyna.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 4:00 PM at Holy Family Parish with Rev. Sebastian Kolodziejczyk officiating. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery with Military Rites by Tickfer-Erickson American Legion Post 17 and the VFW Post 10671.
