Phyllis Ann Wolfe, 94, of Arcadia, passed away June 3, 2024 at Onalaska Care Center under hospice care. She was born in Arcadia, WI on December 29, 1929 to Ed and Amy Berzinski.
She graduated from Arcadia High School and loved working with numbers and bookkeeping. Her first job was doing the books for her father in the Berzinski Oil gas station business. On May 3, 1949 she married the love of her life Linus R. Wolfe and they resided all of their life in Arcadia. For many years she did the books for his vehicle sales and auto repair business. She then went on to work for Arcadia High School as secretary to the Guidance Counselor until retirement in 1993. She truly loved helping students in their future educational pursuits. She was also an avid Arcadia High School sports fan, attending most home football and boys and girls basketball home games.
Phyllis loved to travel! She and Linus took numerous trips to warmer climates in mid-winter to Arizona and Florida. After Linus passed, she continued her travels. She was a chaperone on several high school competition trips. She has been to Rome, Germany, Poland, France, Switzerland, Puerto Vallarta, Bahamas, Washington DC, Branson, Reno, Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Travels also included trips to Nashville to attend graduations of family there. She made it a point to attend all of her grandchildren's graduation celebrations.
Phyllis had a great love for anything Elvis. She attended numerous Elvis impersonator competitions and concerts, many of those with her son, Gary.
Phyllis was a lifelong member of Holy Family Church and a member of the Catholic Women of the Holy Family Catholic Church volunteering for many church events as well as the Mission Thrift Store. Phyllis was a volunteer at the St Joseph's nursing home for many years until it closed. She will be dearly missed by her friends at the Meadowlark Homemakers who continued to meet on a monthly basis. She was instrumental in planning many of the day trips the club would take. She was very passionate about volunteering at the Arcadia Historical Society and loved her time spent there. She had an excellent memory when it comes to Arcadia History and its residents.
