On Friday, July 17, 2020, Phyllis Olivia Kostner, 93, was reunited with her husband, John "Jack" Kostner; parents: Frank and Cecilia (Kreye) Reuter; sons: Jon and baby Michael; sisters: Janice Morrison, Ruth Benusa, Mary Lou Fernholz, and Dorothy Weber; brothers: Francis Reuter and Tom Reuter; and great-grandson, Jacob.
Phyllis was born on October 24, 1926, in Waumandee. She attended St. Boniface Catholic School and graduated from Arcadia High School. After high school, Phyllis attended St. Teresa College in Winona and Prospect Hall Secretarial School in Milwaukee. She was employed with J.E. Woodall, Co. in Milwaukee until she was united in marriage to Jack Kostner on September 9, 1947. After the death of her husband in 1974, Phyllis worked as an Assistant Librarian at the Arcadia High School and then as a Secretary/Bookkeeper for Cenex Land ‘O Lakes until her retirement.
Phyllis was a lady of many talents and enjoyed crafts such as knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed singing with the church choirs at both St. Boniface in Waumandee and Holy Family in Arcadia. Later in life she volunteered at the nursing home in Arcadia, fish fries at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and the Arcadia Food Pantry. Her main enjoyment was playing cards with the ladies and spending time with her family.
Phyllis is survived by four daughters: Debby (Pat) Maloney of Fitchburg, Becky (Jim) Rolbiecki of Minneota, MN, Jane (Ron) Bonlender of Middleton, and Julie (Glen) Reckner of Holmen; a son: Bruce (Barb) Kostner of Arcadia; grandchildren: Marty (Susie) Maloney, Molly (Ed) Brown, Justin (Jess) Kostner, Michael Bonlender, Andrew (Molly) Bonlender, John (Karen) Rolbiecki, Jami (Bruce) Bossuyt, and Kayla (Matt) Tande; sisters-in-law: Joyce Reuter and Kathy Reuter; daughter-in-law: Sarah (Schultz) Kostner; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
Due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, a private Mass of Christian Burial for her family will be held at Holy Family Parish with Father Kyle Laylan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Arcadia. In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged and will be sent to Jacob's Hope Memorials: A Fairview Foundation to support the Pregnancy and Infant Loss Fund.
