Patricia Ann “Pat” Dolan, 77, formerly of Arcadia passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, at Brookdale, La Crosse.
Pat was born on Aug. 28, 1943, to Dr. Thomas and Elsie (Fitzpatrick) Dolan in Hillsboro, WI. After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1961, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Viterbo University in 1965 and her Masters of Education from Winona State in 1973.
She began her career at Arcadia Public Schools in 1965, teaching Kindergarten…when it was a half-day program and when Kindergarten attendance was not yet mandated by the State. Pat’s teaching career spanned 35 years; she retired in 2001. After retirement, she continued to volunteer at Arcadia Elementary School until 2015, thus serving the school district for 50 years.
Pat enjoyed an active life of camping, fishing, bowling, and attending local sporting events; she, along with her friend Mary Platteter, were named Arcadia “Fan of the Year” in 1996. In addition, she served the Arcadia community as a member of the Arcadia Community Chest board and a founding board member for the Arcadia Child Care Center. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and its PCCW; she was a distributor of Holy Communion to the home-bound and a money counter. She was very proud of her Irish heritage, even traveling to Ireland and kissing the Blarney Stone, and St. Patrick’s Day was “HER DAY”.
Pat is survived by several cousins. She will be long remembered by her very best friend and faithful confidant, Mary Platteter of Arcadia, Mary’s children Dave (Ann) Platteter and Gayle (Steve) McDonald, and by her many friends, colleagues, and neighbors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 15, 2021, with Rev. Kyle Laylan presiding. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 9:45 AM with visitation at 10:00 AM (or to follow) until time of Mass. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Hillsboro, WI on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at 11:00 AM. Due to the circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing measures will be strongly encouraged.
