Monica A. Sobota, age 99, of Arcadia, WI died Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Bethany Riverside in La Crosse, WI
Monica was born on January 28, 1918, to John F. and Francis (Berzinski) Brom in Pine Creek.
Monica supported the war effort working at the ammunition plants in Baraboo and Eau Claire. She returned home to marry Dominic J. Sobota on May 30, 1949, at Sacred Heart Church in Pine Creek, WI Her married life was spent working alongside her husband and raising her children on the family farm in Glencoe. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, playing cards and entertaining and visiting family and friends. She was active in the Church, homemakers, Glencoe Senior Citizens, card clubs and going to her grandchildren's events. Her time at Bethany Riverside allowed her to continue an active social life through the activities provided by Bethany Riverside.
Monica is survived by her children; Jack, Neale, and Anne (Bruce) Cornish all of Arcadia, WI; 3 grandchildren, Jackie Engel of Fountain City, WI, Wendy (Jeff) McCoy of Holmen, WI and Becky Sobota of Durand, WI; 2 great grandchildren, Jackson and Tyrus McCoy; one brother, Conrad Brom of Winona, MN and many nieces and nephews.
Monica was preceded in death by her parents John and Francis Brom, her husband Dominic, 8 brothers; Benjamin (Genevive), Richard (Regina), Theodore, Isadore of Pine Creek, Cyril (Margaret) of Centerville, Clarence (Sylvia) of Berkeley, CA, Alvin (Rose) of Winona, and Roy (Della-1m, Elsie-2m) Las Vegas, NV, one sister; Florence (William) Hohfeld, La Crosse, WI and sister-in-law's; Theo (Wesley) Troug, and Josephine (Ray) Klick of Independence, WI, and Genevieve (Conrad) Brom
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 1:00 P.M. at Holy Family Parish with Rev. Sebastian Kolodziejczyk officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 12:00 PM until time of services at the Church.
