Mary Ellen Lisowski, 83, of Blair, WI and formerly of Arcadia, WI passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall.
Mary was born on February 28, 1936, to Walter and Elna (Mueller) Blum in the Township of Milton, Buffalo County. She married La Verne Lisowski on October 15, 1955, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Winona, MN. Mary worked as a certified nursing assistant and in medical records at St. Joseph's Hospital in Arcadia.
Mary was a member of Holy Family Parish, the Holy Family PCCW, St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary, and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She served as Secretary, Vice President and President from 1977 to 1980 for the Deanery and helped with Holy Family Fall Festivals. She was a 4-H Leader when her boys were small. Mary spent time with her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, classmates, and friends doing the things she and La Verne enjoyed to include traveling, playing BINGO, playing cards, dancing, and fishing. She was especially close with her sister Darlene and brother Earl. Mary also enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, scrapbooking, and going to the children's sporting events. Family was very important to Mary. She cherished spending time with her sons, her granddaughter Tracy, and Don's girlfriend Cary and her two boys. She took great pride in their many accomplishments.
Mary is survived by her sons William Lisowski of Boston, MA, and Donald (Cary Thewis) Lisowski of Arcadia; granddaughter, Tracy (Cory) Johnson; brother, Robert Blum of Winona; brother-in-law, Joe Lisowski of Buffalo City; sisters-in-law, Rita Blum of La Crosse and Helen Lisowski of Blair; and adopted grandchildren Dustin and Cody Gabrick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, La Verne in 2002; brothers Earl and Ralph Blum; sisters Betty Ann Blum, Fern Kiese, Darlene Lisowski; brothers-in-law Harold Kiese and Jerome Lisowski; and sisters-in-law Carol Blum and Evelyn (Albert) Kammerer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019, at Holy Family Parish in Arcadia, WI with Father Sebastian Kolodziejczyk officiating. Family and friends are welcome for visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Arcadia.
