Mary Ann Kubis, 71, of Cochrane died on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. May Ann was born on October 10, 1941, in Whitehall, WI, to Robert and Jennie (Konsalla) Pogreba. She married Roger Kubis on April 30, 1960, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Independence.
Mary Ann was a home maker and enjoyed raising her 4 children with her husband Roger in the Merrick State park area. One of Mary's outstanding accomplishments was opening and managing the first Kwik trip in Fountain City. She also worked as a Regional Manager for Kwik Trip in the state of Wisconsin. She was an avid gardener, loved to travel, going to the casinos, spending time with her family, being on the river, and camping on the Mississippi. Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Roger of Cochrane; 1 daughter: Shelley (David) Collins of Blair; 3 sons: Kevin (Tammy) Kubis of Blair, Scott (Ginny) Kubis of Fountain City, Bradley (Lorene) Kubis of Fountain City; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 sisters: Dorothy (Ronald) Edmundson of FL, Rita (Steve) Mc Donald of Hudson, Barbara (John) Pasala of FL, Ann (Dennis) Matchey of Alma; 5 brothers: Gene (Pat) Pogreba of IL, Jim (Julie) Pogreba of ND, Steve (Jeanette) Pogreba of Independence, Danny (Gina) Pogreba of Ettrick, Alan (Shawn) Pogreba of Whitehall. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers: Michael and Richard.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish in Arcadia with Monsignor Tom Hargesheimer officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in rural Arcadia.
