On August 2, 2024, Mary Jane Wolfe was called home to our Lord, leaving behind a family who will forever cherish her memory. Born in Arcadia, WI, on September 12, 1937, Mary Jane lived a vibrant life dedicated to her family and others. She was married to her high school sweetheart, David Wolfe, for 64 years until his passing.
Growing up on a picturesque farm, Mary Jane honed her gardening and cooking talents. Every spring, she passionately tended her vegetable and flower garden, meticulously protecting her crops from pests and taking pride in canning and sharing her produce. Her legendary pickles, crafted with love and the help of her daughters, were especially cherished at family gatherings.
As a devoted mother, Mary Jane instilled in her children a steadfast Catholic faith, a strong commitment to education, and a sense of independence. Her dedication to Catholic education extended beyond her family; as a CCD teacher, she spread the word of God to other children. She was always there to support her children as they pursued their individual paths, offering reassurance, a comforting phone call, or freshly baked cinnamon rolls. In addition to raising her family, Mary Jane enjoyed a fulfilling career, working at Franciscan Skemp-HealthCare for twenty-nine years as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Mary Jane cherished spending time with her family and embraced every unique experience. She loved fishing on lakes in Wisconsin and Minnesota, along the banks of the Mississippi, and on the coast in Florida. She had a special fondness for family adventures "Up North" during the hot summers. Mary Jane also enjoyed attending plays and theater performances with her daughters. One of the highlights of her life was a trip to Europe, where she basked in the beauty of the Swiss Alps and visited Rome, where she saw the Pope from his balcony.
Mary Jane made holidays magical. Her homemade cakes and thoughtful gifts were highlights of every celebration. She meticulously planned Thanksgiving and Christmas, preparing feasts that delighted all. She created special "Christmas Games" for her grandchildren, adding friendly competition to the festivities. Throughout the year, she welcomed her nieces and nephews with open arms, making every visit memorable.
Beyond her family, Mary Jane expressed her generous spirit by volunteering as a Girl Scout leader, and various roles with Holy Family Parish, and the Parish Community Church Women's group. She contributed by baking coffee cakes and bread, sorting through mission donations, and helping at the Annual Fall Festival. She sang in the choir for over ten years and served as a Eucharistic Minister for shut-ins and nursing home residents. Her volunteerism fostered a close-knit community of compassionate women, extending to her involvement with the Arcadia Community Club, where they shared recipes, supported one another, and upheld core family values.
In her later years, Mary Jane faced a debilitating illness that challenged her physically and mentally. Despite these challenges, her warm and caring personality shone through, inspiring her caregivers to provide her with the same level of compassionate care she had always given. The family is profoundly grateful to the caregivers at BeeHive Memory Care and the Moments Hospice for their attentive care.
Mary Jane is survived by her children, Ann (Bill) Boberg of Arcadia, Julie (Randy) Peterson of Victoria, MN, Lori (Michael) Lazorik of North Hutchinson Island, FL, and Larry Wolfe (Jean Thompson) of Arcadia; her grandchildren, Mark, David (Lisa), Gregory (Seranda) and Kelly Boberg; Joshua and Elizabeth Peterson; and Olivia Lazorik; her great-grandchildren, Lenny, Lydon, and Luke Boberg, and Philip and Vera Boberg; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Myers and Dottie Myers. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Wolfe; and brothers, Ronald Myers, Robert Myers, and Kenneth Myers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 15, followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon at the Arcadia Country Club. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
