LaVern J. "Mudcat" Milek, age 78, of Arcadia, WI passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 23, 1939, in Arcadia WI, to Clifford and Amelia (Wozney) Milek. He married LaVonne C. Schmidt in 1962, in Tacoma, Washington. After that, they lived in Arcadia their whole lives.
Lavern was a man of great faith and was a member of the Holy Family Parish in Arcadia Wi. He was a member of the National Guard and was called to active duty in Fort Lewis Washington during the Berlin crisis. In LaVern's younger years, he loved to play softball, bowl and golf. He was an avid outdoorsman where he loved to trap and hunt, and had a passion for the river and fishing. LaVern loved life. He had a sense of humor, was somewhat of a storyteller, and for anyone who knew him, had his own language.
LaVern worked in the quarry and then he found his calling as a mason. Above all, LaVern loved family. He adored "Vonnie" and his grandchildren. He was survived by his wife LaVonne, a daughter, Yvette (Michael) Kube, son, John (Shelley) Milek, 4 grandchildren, Trent (Niki) Kube, Clark Kube, Dulcey Milek, and Kale Milek, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. LaVern was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Amelia (Wozney) Milek and his sister Rose Marie Seebold.
Urn bearers will be his grandchildren Trent, Niki, and Clark Kube and Dulcey and Kale Milek.
A Mass Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the Holy Family Parish Church in Arcadia Wi, with Father Sebastian Kolodziejczyk officiating. Visitation at Holy Family Parish begins from 1 PM until 3 PM, with the funeral beginning at 3 PM and the burial to directly follow at the St. Stanislaus Cemetary in Arcadia, WI.
