Joseph E. Dolle, 89, of Trempealeau, WI passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 28, 2017.
He was born in La Crosse to Joseph and Agnes (Flottmeyer) Dolle on September 25, 1927. He married Joyce Jostad on June 16, 1954, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Galesville.
As a child, Joe lived on Stoddard Ridge, south of La Crosse. In his teens, his family moved to a farm near Centerville. He worked on the family farm and in trucking prior to joining the Army and serving in Korea. After his service, he returned to Centerville where Joe and Joyce began their 62 years together. They purchased the family farm where they raised a family of four daughters and one son.
Joe worked on the farm for more than 70 years. Even after "retiring" he continued to enjoy helping his son on the farm. Joe also enjoyed curling, hunting, fishing, collecting farm toys and woodworking. He was proud to participate in the Freedom Honor Flight in 2014.
Joe is survived by his wife: Joyce, of 62 years; daughters: Mary (George) Maravelas of La Crosse, Rose (Bob) Kulig of Onalaska, Rita (Jay) Loeffler of Holmen, Carol (Todd) Hilliard of Roscoe, IL, and son: Joe (Gayle) Dolle of Trempealeau. He has 10 grandchildren: Stephanie, Paul, Will, Mark, Ryan, Callan, Alycia, Sierra, Casey and Jeff; 5 great-grandchildren: Lucas, Emma, Leah, Aly and Jack. In addition, Joe is survived by siblings: Bob Dolle, Norma (David) Raymond, Phyllis Walcker, Bernadine (Ron) Borowiak, Mary Ellen Darland, Leo (Mary) Dolle and Janice (Everett) Newburg.
Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers: George, Bill and Leonard as well as sister Theresa Tschumper.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 11646 South Street, Trempealeau, with Father Antony Joseph officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 5-7 p.m. and at 10 a.m. prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, with Military Rites by Towner-Littlebear-Arnold VFW Post 1915.
Joe was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Wozney-Killian Funeral Home, Arcadia is assisting the family with arrangements.
