Janet Elizabeth Gamoke, 85, died Friday, January 27,2017, at Comforts of Home in Hudson, Wisconsin. She was born on February 27, 1931, in Arcadia, WI to Joseph and Della (Haines) Gamoke, Sr. Upon completion of graduation at Arcadia High School, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin--Milwaukee with a teaching degree. She taught Kindergarten in the Milwaukee Public Schools for 44 years. Janet spent her entire teaching career at the same school, where she was admired and respected by her peers, students and their parents.
In 2009 she moved to Hudson to live near her sister, Joyce Maloney. Janet enjoyed being outside and would take daily walks around the neighborhood. She liked to spend time with her nieces and her friends at Comforts of Home.
Janet is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents ; and her brothers: Joseph, Robert, Richard, Dennis ;and two sisters :Barbara Koch and Joyce Maloney.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish, with Rev. Sebastian Kolodziejczyk officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be given to Holy Family Catholic School, Arcadia, Wisconsin.
Special thanks to Jim and Patty Wegener of Hudson, who included Janet in their family and took her to mass at St Pat's every Sunday and the staff at Comforts of Home, who always treated Janet with respect and kindness.
