Irene Waletzki

Irene Pearl Waletzki, 80, of Fountain City, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Rochester, MN.

Irene was born in Winona, MN on May 28, 1940, to Joseph and Luella (Selke) Husman.  She married Michael Waletzki at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Arcadia on August 22, 1959.  Together the couple farmed and raised four children: Michael J., James, Laurie, and Lynda.  Irene worked side by side with Michael on their family farm, and was in charge of raising pigs, milking cows, and tending to the horses.  Her love for animals extended to running a dog kennel for over 35 years, where she bred and sold a variety of small dog breeds.  She loved to can vegetables such as pickles and tomatoes she grew in her garden and fruits such as apples and pears.  She always made numerous batches of different kinds of tasty jellies for her family and friends to enjoy.  Irene also kept busy by planting beautiful assortments of flowers around their home each year.  She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Fountain City, and a previous member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Arcadia.

Irene is survived by her husband of 61 years: Michael of Fountain City; sons: Michael J. (Donna) Waletzki of Pine Creek and James Waletzki of Grygla, MN; daughter: Lynda (Tracy) Reyes of Arcadia; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law: Susan Husman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Laurie Keeler; sister: Beverly Kimmel; and brothers: Wayne and Donald Husman.

Mass of Christian Burial for Irene will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 13, 2020, at Holy Family Catholic Parish in Arcadia with Father Kyle Laylan officiating.  Family and friends are welcome for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service at church.  Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Arcadia.  To express condolences to her family online and for more information, please visit www.wozneykillianfh.com
