Irene B. Guenther, 94, of Blair and formerly of Waumandee, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Gundersen Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall, WI.
Irene was born on July 30, 1923, to Thomas A. and Mary (Konter) Pumpuch in Independence. She was united in marriage to Albert Herman Guenther, Sr. on October 12, 1940, at Little Brown Church in Iowa. Together the couple farmed out in Waumandee, raising dairy cattle and poultry. Irene enjoyed gardening, canning, bowling with the Ma&Pa League, and Women's League, traveling to every state and Europe, and taking trips to the Ho-Chunk Casino in Black River Falls with Albert. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she was also involved in quilting, the Montana Homemakers, and assisted with elections for the Town of Montana. Irene also enjoyed cooking and catering alongside her sister for auctions and other events. Most of all, Irene cherished her time she spent raising her great family.
Irene is survived by her husband: Albert, Sr. of Blair; her son: Albert G. (Janice) of Fountain City; daughters: Judeen (Melvin) Berg of Arcadia, and Charleen (William) Klink of Fountain City; daughter-in-law: Joan Guenther of Arcadia; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sons: Alvin and Duane, grandson: Travis Klink, great grandson: Jared Fredrickson, 2 sisters: Verna Beck, Helen Anderson, and 2 brothers: Joe and Tom Pumpuch.
A funeral service for Irene will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018, at Christ Lutheran Church, Arcadia, with Pastor Bob Schoenknecht officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, June 17th, at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home, Arcadia, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service at church on Monday. Burial will be in Glencoe Lutheran Cemetery, rural Arcadia.
