Irene D. Gilbertson, 83, of Arcadia passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Gundersen Tri County Care Center in Whitehall, WI, with her niece by her side. Irene was born on January 31, 1931, in Arcadia to Albert and Jennie (Erickson) Gilbertson. Irene graduated from Arcadia High School in 1950. After High School she worked in the Arcadia High School Office and then went to work at the Trempealeau County Courthouse in the Veteran's Office and in several other offices in the courthouse before retirement.
Irene was a member of Fagernes Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with her brother, going to family and friends events, shopping, bowling, gambling, traveling, visiting, playing cards with her many friends, and spending time with the residence at Willow Street Apartments.
Irene is survived by her brother, Larry (Janice) Gilbertson of Arcadia; her nieces and nephews: Theresa Gilbertson, Daniel (Margo) Gilbertson, Lisa (Jim) Lisowski, David (Jessica) Gilbertson; great nieces and nephews: Eric, Samantha, Dylan, Nikki, Taylor, Tyler, Jesse, Reese, Zander; great great niece and nephews: Aryana, Brett, Brody; and many special friends. Irene was preceded in death by her parents and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Fagernes Lutheran Church with Intern Kim Sturtz officiating. Friends may call on Monday, March 17, 2014, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home where there will be a 7:00 PM prayer service. They may also call on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church.
Burial will be in Fagernes Lutheran Cemetery.
Irene's family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at Gundersen Tri County Memorial Hospital ER and Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave Irene.
