Harriet Mae Erickson, 87, of Winona and formerly Arcadia, died on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Winona Health.
Harriet was born on December 24, 1926, in Whitehall, WI to Alvin C. and Magna (Johnson) Rhude. Harriet attended Oakdale School in Newcomb Valley. She won a Trempealeau Co. spelling bee in 1940. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1945. She was employed at Whitehall Social Services and was later transferred to Eau Claire where she was a bookkeeper and assistant administrator for 10 years. She attended Vo-Tec. courses in Eau Claire in the evenings. She enjoyed playing softball for Northern State Power for 5 years while in Eau Claire.
On October 20, 1956, Harriet married Ervin Erickson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Whitehall, WI. Harriet then was employed by Thorp Finance as a secretary and cashier for many years. She later worked for Productive Credit Association until the fall of 1966. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the W-ELCA.
Harriet is survived by her twin brother, Harry Rhude of Arcadia; a step daughter, Sonia (Waine) Doenier of Independence; 3 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 2 adopted grandchildren, and 2 grandchildren by marriage. She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin and a son, Douglas Erickson.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, with Rev. Peter Jonas officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in Glencoe Lutheran Cemetery, rural Arcadia. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to donors choice.
