Florence Kube
Florence Kube, age 92, died Tuesday June 20, 2017, at Marinuka Manor Nursing Home in Galesville, WI Florence was born in the Ettrick Township, Trempealeau County WI to Peter and Clara (Hoff) Thompson. She attended the Oak Ridge School. When she finished school, she remained at home and worked on her family's farm.
On November 25, 1954, she married David Kube. It was Thanksgiving Day. Florence's Mother had told her it was time for her to get married. They were married in the Blair Lutheran Parsonage by Pastor Konrad Urberg. Together they farmed on their Dairy Farm located on the end of Oak Ridge in the Townships of Arcadia, Ettrick and Galesville.
She enjoyed raising chickens and sold the eggs to all the neighbors and some local businesses. She also enjoyed feeding the baby calves. She had a garden every summer and raised raspberries. She spent many a summer day in the woods picking blackberries. She would pick in a small bucket and dump them into a larger tub sitting on the edge of the woods. One time when she came back to dump her bucket into the tub, there was a large rattle snake curled up in it. Needless to say, that was the end of her blackberry picking for the day.
Her family enjoyed a fresh baked pie every Sunday. She cooked the Lutefisk for the Tamarack Lutheran's annual dinner, until they discontinued it several years ago.
Florence is survived by 2 sons; Richard (Friend Mary) Kube of Arcadia, Roland "Rollie" (Heidi) Kube of Galesville, 2 grandsons; Robert Kube and Gregory Kube both of Galesville, and many nieces and nephews.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband David on January 1, 2010, and three brothers; Norman Thompson, Clarence (Mina) Thompson., and Lawrence (Sena) Thompson.
