Evelyn Josephine Symitczek, 92, of Arcadia, passed away on December 19, 2018, in her home.
She was born in North Creek, rural Arcadia, on May 29, 1926, to Urban and Leona (Gawlick) Weaver. Evelyn attended Catholic School in North Creek and Arcadia High School, graduating with the class of 1943. She married Sylvester Symitczek on September 8, 1948, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in North Creek by Rev. Roskos. Syl and Evelyn lived in Waumandee on the farm for many years, raising their two boys: Fred and Jim. Evelyn was a member of St. Boniface Parish in Waumandee, where she was also a member of the Alter Society for many years. Evelyn was also a member of the Arcadia Lioness and volunteered with the Historical Society. She drove children to and from school in Waumandee for 13 years, and worked at Ashley Furniture for 45 years before her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting and the outdoors, but will always be remembered for her love for flowers and amazing gardening skills.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sylvester in 2008; sons: Fred in 1995 and Jim in 2015; grandson, Joshua; and her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her 2 daughters-in-law: Mary Symitczek (Fred) and Lori Symitczek (Jim); 8 grandchildren: Jamie Symitczek, Jeremy (Savannah Pronschinske) Symitczek, Crystal (Adam) McGinnis, Jacob Symitczek, Nicole Zastrow, Derek Symitczek, Amanda (David Fernholz, Jr.) Symitczek, and Jacqueline (Michael Paulson) Symitczek; 4 great-grandchildren Kenley and Kolton Fernholz (children of Amanda), and Eugene and Nicholas Symitczek (children of Jeremy); and many more close family and friends that will all miss her dearly.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Waumandee, with Fathers Prince Raja and Kyle Laylan co-officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. Prayer Service and a 7:30 p.m. Rosary, and also one hour prior to services at church on Thursday.
