Ethel (Krumholz) Kelley

Ethel (Krumholz) Kelley joined her family in Heaven on March 8, 2025. She was born on July 9, 1925 in Fountain City, Wisconsin to Dora and Emil Abts. The 6th of 7 girls and 3 sons, it was a busy, loving childhood. She attended school in Fountain City, after graduating from High School she trained and worked in Winona, Mn as a dental assistant until her marriage to Paul Krumholz in February of 1947. Paul and Ethel raised 6 children in Bloomer, Fountain City and Galesville, Wi until his death in 1973. Ethel was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church, Fountain City, the altar society and choir; she sang many solos for weddings, funerals and church services. Ethel also performed and toured with the Sweet Adelines of Winona, Mn for many years. She always enjoyed hosting a family get together or card party and these are cherished memories for her children.

In 1975 Ethel married Hilarian Abts of Arcadia, Wi and resided there. They enjoyed traveling together and toured Europe and the US visiting family and friends. After Hilarians death, Ethel decided to enjoy the sun and moved to Mesa, AZ, where she was active in the Fountain of the Sun Community theater and enjoyed parties and outings with new friends. She lived the last nine years near family in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Ethel is survived by: daughters, Karen (Richard) Auchampach; Central City, SD, Katy (Larry) Meier, Mesa, AZ; Kim Krumholz, Rapid City, SD; Grandchildren, Lisa Krumholz, Jason Krumholz, Melanie Bond, Kirstin (Scott) Huff, Anna Auchampach, Matthew Meier, Niki (Matt) Barnes, Jon Hovland; Great-grandchildren, Noah, Kaitlyn, Hannah, Elijah, Jackson and Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and sons, Richard, James and Paul Jr..

A special thank you to the staff at Monument Long Term Care in Sturgis, SD, for their loving care in the last years of her life.

Burial will be held in Arcadia, Wisconsin in June.
