Eileen Doris Konkel, 85, of Galesville, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Marinuka Manor under the care of Gundersen Lutheran Hospice in Galesville.
Eileen was born on February 25, 1933, in Arcadia to Thomas and Elizabeth (Gawlick) Schwartz. After graduating from high school, she was united in marriage to Theodore Dominic Konkel on February 3, 1951, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Arcadia. Together the couple farmed in Bear Coulee, rural Trempealeau and had 7 children. She was a member of St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Trempealeau. Eileen enjoyed selling Home Interiors and Tupperware and working at Lake Center Switch in Winona. She also loved playing cards, Bingo, and going to casinos.
Eileen is survived by her son, Ted (Hope) Konkel, Jr. of Trempealeau; daughters: Joyce (Russ) Harris of Trempealeau, Sue Rombalski of Holmen, Betty (Steve) Scow of Sparta, and Kathy (Tim) Trim of Galesville; grandchildren: Josh and Jake Harris, Heidi (Ron) Spittler, Chad (Mandy) Scow, Malissa (Jamie) Gomez, Justin (Jess) Scow, Timothy (Erika) Konkel, Jordan and Katilyn Trim, Kyle, Chelsey, Megan, Ashley and Jennifer Konkel; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene Schwartz of Winona; and many other friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted on March 22, 2001; son, Robert; daughter, Maxine; grandchildren: Bridget Rombalski and Brandon Trim; and son-in-law, John Rombalski, Jr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019, at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Trempealeau with Father Antony Joseph officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service at church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, rural Arcadia.
