Dorothy Lucille Sobotta, 95, of Arcadia, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at Gundersen Tri-County Hospital in Whitehall.
Dorothy was born in Arcadia on February 7, 1923, to John and Clara (Pape) Weltzien. After graduating from Arcadia High School in 1940, Dorothy married Eugene Sobotta at St. Stanislaus Parsonage on September 17th, 1942. Together they farmed outside of Arcadia and raised four children: Larry, Donna, Roger and Terry. Dorothy enjoyed doing upholstery work, volunteering with the food pantry, playing cards with the Glencoe Senior Citizen's card club, bowling and sewing quilts at church. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she helped with the newsletters and the WELCA group.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Donna Baker of Alma; sons: Larry (Kristi) of Trempealeau, Roger (Marie), and Terry (Cindy) both of Arcadia; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Janice (Rev. Ron) Walter of Boerne, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene in 1993; brothers: Gaylord (Ruth) Weltzien and Ronald (Rosemary) Weltzien; and son-in-law, Joe Baker.
A funeral service for Dorothy will be held at noon on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at Christ Lutheran Church with Reverend Ron Walter officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Arcadia.
