Byron Lee Harms, 72, of Arcadia, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Oakwood Villa in Altoona.
Byron was born on November 10, 1946, in Emery, South Dakota to Harm and Annabelle (Meinerts) Harms. After graduating from high school, Byron completed two years of college and earned his Associate's Degree. He then enlisted into the United States Army on December 5, 1968, and was deployed to Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from service on November 8, 1970, at Fort Lewis, WA. Byron married Adeline "Addie" Slaby on June 2, 1973, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Independence, and together they raised two children in Arcadia. Byron worked for Stetzer Tree Service and Mondovi Foods before working for Ashley Furniture, where he worked until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, painting, wood crafting, gardening, and taking care of his dogs. He will be truly missed by his loving family.
Byron is survived by his wife Addie of Arcadia; son, Dustin (April) Harms of Arcadia; daughter, Brandi (Robert Shepherd) Harms of Blair; brothers: Norwin (Lynn) Harms of Lovell, WY and Jerry (Debbie) Harms of Gillette, WY; sisters: Bonnie (Leon) Whiteford of Anoka, MN, Janice Gunderson of Eureka, IL, and Darla (Brenton) Enos of Eleva; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jeanette in infancy.
