Brian James Rebhahn, 42, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016, after a 2-year battle with colon cancer, with his wife and daughters by his side.
He was born on November 22, 1973, in Whitehall, Wisconsin, to James "Jim" and Marsha (Moller) Rebhahn. He graduated from Arcadia High School in 1992, where he excelled in many sports. He earned state track honors all four years of high school; his strength was in middle distance in which he focused on the 400 and 800-meter dash, and contributed as the anchor leg on the mile relay team. He and his fellow teammates won the state title two years in a row (1991 & 1992); they were a force to be reckoned with. He was a baseball enthusiast and achieved many honors in this sport. He was a superb pitcher and gained the interest of Major League Baseball scouts. He was a running back and receiver in football and again achieved several honors in this sport. He wrestled from Kindergarten through his Freshman year of High School; however, his wrestling career was cut short due to an injury. He then went on to basketball at which he excelled once again.
After High School, Brian went on to attend Viterbo College and Western Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse, WI. He also continued to be active in sports by playing slow pitch and fast pitch softball. He played for Little River Lumber and Sportsman's Lounge for many years. He had many good times with his slow pitch teams and many fond memories. He also played for the Dan's Bar fast pitch team.
Brian married his High School sweetheart, Valerie Jayne Kokott, on June 29, 1996. They were together since the age of 16. They made their first home in La Crosse, WI, and later moved to Onalaska, WI.Their first daughter, Brianna Jayne, was born on July 31, 2002, and their second daughter, Danika Dee,was born on September 24, 2006. Brian was an amazing husband and father.
Brian coached both of his daughters from the beginning of their baseball and softball careers. He coached T-ball, rookie ball, and softball. He also coached basketball. In his earlier years, he coached baseball for the Arcadia Park and Rec, as well. His girls also excel in sports and inherited many of his natural athletic abilities. He has not only touched the hearts of his daughters by coaching, but also many other children. When he coached, he shared his knowledge, kindness, patience, skill, and his fun-loving and genuine personality. His daughters and their teammates have many fond memories of practices, games, and tournaments. Brian was the President of the Brice Prairie Baseball-Softball organization for several years; he helped the organization be quite successful and he was passionate about the organization and coaching.
Brian also had many other talents, hobbies, and interests. He was an avid fisherman, enjoying time on the Mississippi River fishing for bass, pan fish, and cat fish. He was a fabulous cook/chef; he enjoyed having company over at the house to cook for them. He wowed everyone with his cooking talent. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, playing Bean Bags, watching sports and particularly following his beloved Red Sox and 49ers, and spending time with friends and family. Brian also had a natural ability with children. He was not only a wonderful father, but also a wonderful uncle and God Father. He had 5 God Children: Adam Guza, Marissa Loesel, Cameron Boland, Dominick Von Ruden, and Avery Rebhahn.
Brian worked in the concrete construction field for more than 17 years. He worked for Reedy
Construction and then spent a majority of his career with Feyen Concrete Construction where he was a Concrete Foreman. He was a very hard worker; he was meticulous with getting the job done well and right. He gained many friendships and a lot of respect from his peers in the field.
Brian is survived by his wife, Valerie Kokott-Rebhahn; his children, Brianna and Danika; his dog, Nola; his parents, Jim and Marsha Rebhahn; his brother, Doug (Larissa) Rebhahn; his nieces and nephews: Avery and Nolan Rebhahn, Jessica (Derek) Grotjahn, Adam (Kayla) Guza, Taylor Guza, Brooke (Dave) Lueck, Matt Pietrek, Deann (Mike) Rochester, Joey Pietrek, Ben Matchey, and Gideon Matchey; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Nancy (Jim) Guza, Tammie (Mike) Pietrek, Stefanie (Joe) Matchey, and Keith Kokott, He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents: Martin and Marie Rebhahn and Fritz and Cleone Moller.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 8, 2016, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, at the Wozney-Killian Funeral Home in Arcadia, WI. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church,410 Main Street, Onalaska, WI, with Rev. Karyn Bodenschatz officiating.
